Veteran jazz drummer, Shawn Kelley has teamed up with fellow musicians, pianist Randy Cannon and bassist, Therdsak Wongvichien as a new jazz outfit, triolive! The accomplished players will be regular guests on stage at Bangkok’s coolest jazz venue, The Living Room at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, a Luxury Collection hotel.
Shawn Kelley was raised in Syracuse, New York and studied jazz under the tutelage of Ron Carter, John Lewis, Gil Evans, and Sonny Igoe. After years of playing on the New York jazz scene, Shawn relocated to the warmer climates of Asia, where he has been in high demand since. In 2004, he performed and recorded with Ernie Watts and Jeremy Monteiro. Shawn Kelley is a highly versatile drummer, and is able to span the entire dynamic spectrum of jazz, from the most sensitive nuance to driving and explosive of drum solos.
Randy Cannon was once described by the renowned jazz critic, Leonard Feather as "a pianist of formidable gifts, with rich dynamic variety and rhythmic sensitivity". His stunning arrangements and spine-tingling musical vocabulary transform original arrangements and compositions into small masterpieces, pulling the listener into the demanding world of jazz improvisation and towards the very heart of music. Randy has performed live and appeared on recordings with Freddie Hubbard, George Benson, Al Jarreau, David Sanborn, The Dokey Brothers, Dave Liebman, Harvey Mason, and classical music "diva" Monserat Caballe, as well as composing and scoring music for movies and television.
Therdsak Wongvichien is considered one of Thailand’s leading exponents of the bass. Born in Bangkok, he studied his BA in Music Education at Srinakharinwirot University. Therdsak has been a part of the Bangkok jazz and music scene for almost two decades and is a regular fixture at The Living Room where he keeps the beat for musicians such as Randy Canon and Jeremy Monteiro. He has also toured on the international circuit, appearing at the Tokyo Jazz Festival and the Taiwan Jazz Festival.
