Foreign investors joining London Roadshow have confidence in Thai listed firms’ strong growth potential

Bangkok--14 Jul--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) together with Deutsche Bank and Tisco Securities Co., Ltd. held a roadshow “DBTisco Roadshow in UK” during July 7-8, 2009 in London, United Kingdom. Five listed firms participating in the roadshow received great attention from 25 foreign institutional investors, who have shown their interest to invest more on the Thai capital market. “DBTisco Roadshow in UK was a success, as Thai bourse and listed firms met with a group of investors, who were already familiar with investment in Thailand, and had an opportunity to provide information directly to those investors, which helps boost more investment in the future,” revealed SET Chairman Pakorn Malakul Na Ayudhya. SET provided investors with information about the overview of Thailand’s economy, the more stable political situations, and the government’s economic policy on the Stimulus Package 2 (SP2). Moreover, listed firms’ improved performance were provided to investors, along with the new products and services, such as Equity-Traded Fund (ETF), the ASEAN Electronic Trading Link, and Thai bourse’ s demutualization and its future direction. Foreign institutional investors had shown interest in SET’s demutualization, as it is in line with other global exchanges and believes that it will enhance customer services efficiency. “Foreign institutional investors participated in the roadshow mostly are those already invested in the emerging markets, including the Thai market, and those interested in the Thai bourse, joining the roadshow to receive information on SET listed firms’ operating performance. These investors believe that Thai listed firms have strong growth potential, as the domestic consumer demand continues at a high level in spite of the impact from global economic crisis,” said TISCO Securities Co., Ltd. The five listed companies in this event were Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (Agro & Food Industry Group), Central Pattana PCL (Property & Construction Industry Group), CP All PCL (Services Industry Group), IRPC PCL (Resources Industry Group) , and PTT Chemical PCL (Industrial Industry Group), which together have a market capitalization of over THB300 billion accounting for 6.4% of total market capitalization.
