Sizzler Thailand named the winning team of its 6th annual Grillmasters Competition with a cash prize of 100,000 baht.
“The Grillmasters Competition is an annual activity aimed at training all members of our staff from operational to executive levels to have a coherent understanding of the skills required in all aspects of service and food preparation to meet the highest international standards,” said John S. Heinecke, Vice President & General Manager of SLRT Ltd., managers of the Sizzler chain in Thailand and China.
“It’s part of the Sizzler Promise Culture that guarantees unvarying excellence in place, product and people. The competition also provides an opportunity for hard-working employees to demonstrate what they’ve achieved.”
The Sizzler Grillmasters Competition began on 3 June, and from 32 teams from all over the country, five finalist teams were chosen. The finalist teams were from the All Seasons Place, C.P. Tower, Ekamai, Future Park Rungsit and Phuket branches.
“The teams consist of one restaurant manager, one grill staff member and one waiter or waitress,” said Mr. Heinicke.
“Team members worked in close cooperation showing their service mind in all steps of the work from personal hygiene to store setup and correct international standard cooking methods. These included perfect timing in the grilling of each kind of meat, the right amount of sauce to be served with different steaks, food quality of the served meal, presentation of the food, and cleaning procedures.
“The competition reflects our determination to maintain the highest levels of food and service quality in all outlets throughout the country; this is one of Sizzler’s core policies for expanding the business. Customers can be sure that they will receive the best in all our branches.
“Many celebrities who enjoy Western-style steak, seafood and salads took part in the event, with Patee Sarasin, Aob-aom Chutrakul, Winrat Sakaurattananon and Nicky Panithee Snidvongs Na Ayudha joining the judging panel for spicy grilled chicken, the last dish that the contestants have to prepare. They will also be talking about their favourite menus and giving the impressions of Sizzler.”

The best Hot Side team of Sizzler will receive Grill Master Golden Pins and a cash prize of 100,000 baht, with 50,000 baht going to the team members and 30,000 baht to the restaurant manager. Sizzler also presents another two cash prize of 10,000 baht for the Best Grill and Best Make. The Grill Master Golden Pin is Sizzler’s guarantee of their success as the best Hot Side team of the year, and the teams that receive it will be considered for higher salary and benefits.
“Sizzler’s Grillmasters Competition helps to maintain the standard of our food and service,” said Mr. Heinecke. “It’s our way of raising our staffs’ morale and motivating them to develop their ability in food preparation, service and administration.”
