Bangkok--3 Aug--FM 104.75 Diana Jongjintanakarn or “Di” among her fans came to FM 104.75 station last week to tell one of the saddest stories about parts of the world that are left forgotten, the refugees in 9 camps around Thailand. Di was appointed the first Thai Ambassador for Refugees since June 2009. Since then she started her mission touring around Thai communities to educate people to become aware of the refugees in the camps who until now, after 30 years running away from wars and sufferings to search for safer shelters in Thai borders, still have no homes. Instead they live in a small camp environment with very limited means for living provided by small group of donors. Kids are growing in a confined space with little education. The place has no electricity nor other things that we consider basics at homes. Diana is not only an entertainer but also a philanthropist since young age. She is very much eager to help and do whatever she can to raise the awareness of this problem. These forgotten groups of refugees still remain the hidden problems in other parts of the world. Another other example of refugee ambassador is the famous Hollywood actor Angelina Jolie who acts as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR. Thailand is very lucky that we have a perfect candidate for this job as Diana is very fluent in 3 languages, very pleasant and witty when communicate, and can persuade the media to turn around and focus more on the refugee camps. Joined in the program is the USCRI young director, K. Veerawit Tienchainant who is wholeheartedly commited to this campaign and working very hard with his team.
