Chef Charlie and his culinary staff at Anna & Charlie’s Caf? (formerly known as Anna’s Caf?) are set to celebrate national mother’s day and honor maternal love by dishing up 5 scrumptious recipes specially created for moms and made from fresh Dory fish. These 5 special dishes will be featured only @Anna & Charlie’s Caf? for the entire month of August.
Formerly known as St Peter’s Fish, ‘John Dory’ or ‘Dory’ fish, is caught by trawling in temperate seas at depths up to 100 meters. This strange-looking fish with a compressed oval body can be found in: the Atlantic between Norway and South Africa; the Pacific off the coasts of Japan, Australia, and New Zealand; the Mediterranean; and the Indian Ocean.
The name ‘Dory’ is derived from French word, ‘dor?’, meaning ‘gold’. The fish is known to be rich in omega 3 fish oil which helps to protect the heart. Omega 3 is also believed to play an important role in the development of the brain and reduce the risk of number of serious diseases, including certain types of cancer.
The 5 delightful dishes prepared by Chef Charlie include:
- Stir-fired Dory Fish with Garlic and Black Pepper
- Stir-fired Dory Fish with Black Bean Sauce
- Pan Fired Dory Fish Fillet served with Green Apple Sauce
- Grilled Dory Fish Fillet served with White Wine Sauce
- Dory Fish Congee (Khao Tom Pla Dory)
Of course, a healthy meal of Dory fish wouldn’t be complete without a piece of Anna and Charlie’s ‘Toffee Banoffee’, the famous dessert originated by the restaurant almost a decade ago.
