The Opening Ceremony of The 1st Asian Martial Arts Games in the categories of Wushu-Kungfu and Pencak Silat

Bangkok--5 Aug--the Sports Authority of Thailand at Silpa-Archa Building, Suphan Buri In the morning of August 5th 2009, the former Prime Minister of Thailand Banharn Silpa-Acha presided over the opening ceremony of the 1st Asian Martial Arts Game in the category of Wushu-Kungfu at Silpa-Archa Building. This historical sporting event is the first of its kind that is ever hosted in Asia. There are nine categories of martial arts competing in the event. The province of Suphan Buri has received the honor of hosting 2 categories of martial arts, which are Wushu-Kungfu, and Pencak Silat. In the two categories, there are 21 countries with 311 official staff and athletes involved. The competition will start from 5th-8th August with over 4,000 spectators waiting to attend. This competition which is hosted in Suphan Buri has received a high anticipation from the Suphan Buri residents who expect this event to be a success.
