The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) will hold the 6th “SET in the City” during November 12-15, 2009 under the theme “Heading to investment success,” and join hands with over 90 partners to propose integrated investment alternatives giving opportunities for higher returns, including equities, mutual funds, derivatives, bonds, debentures, unit-linked products (insurance with investment aspects). The event will include a special Analyst Fair for in-depth investment and economic analysis. The SET Awards will also be presented to listed companies, market participants and leaders in the capital market on November 13.
“‘SET in the City 2009’ aims at building value investors who can effectively manage their finance. It will achieve its objectives by providing concentrated information, presented by specialists through various activities, including numerous seminar topics,” revealed SET President Patareeya Benjapolchai.
“SET in the City 2009’ is a major integrated investment event of the year. Investors can meet specialists from securities, asset management, and insurance companies as well as gold futures brokers. The Agricultural Futures Exchange of Thailand (AFET) also joins the event and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will give advice on investments and investors’ rights, while the Islamic Bank of Thailand will give information on investment that complies with Islamic principles. The Revenue Department will provide “tax clinic” service and explain any issues about taxes. Moreover, 30 listed companies, nine of which are banks, will provide complete service on finance and investment.
“SET Group will present information on its products and services aiming at both existing and potential investors. SET will also give advice on analysis tools and how to invest in stocks; how to invest in bonds or debentures via Bond Electronic Exchange (BEX); how to invest in Thailand Futures Exchange PCL (TFEX). Moreover, investors can learn more about SET’s and TFEX’s latest products: gold futures, single stock futures, SET 50 Index futures, options, exchange-traded funds, derivative warrants, and services on SET’s ‘Mobile Clinic,’ which will provide investors with answers about securities trading through smart phones, using the Settrade Streaming program. Additionally, there will be booths providing information on post-trade services, e.g., automatically transferring dividends to shareholders’ bank accounts (e-Dividend), checking on securities holdings, and personal finance planning,” said Ms. Patareeya.
SET in the City 2009’s highlight are seminars that are jammed with concentrated content from analysts and other experts in the economy and investment. Programs will be held in two stages on all four days:
1) The Innovative Stage presents innovative investment products, domestic and overseas investment perspectives, and a forecast of mutual funds in 2010 by Mrs. Voravan Tarapoom, Mrs. Jotika Savanananda, Mr. Somjin Sornpaisarn, PhD.
2) The Investment Stage will be held on November 12-13. In the Analyst Fair, where leading analysts will give views and perspectives on the economic direction and investment. Speakers include Mr. Kongkiat Opaswongkarn, PhD, Mr. Paiboon Nalinthrangkurn, Mr. Anusorn Tamajai PhD, Mr. Kittirat Na Ranong, Mr. Montree Sornpaisarn and Mr. Sombat Narawutthichai. There will also be topics about investment on each industry, e.g., the property, construction, energy, and petrochemical industries. On November 15-16, seminars on in-depth investment will be held by investment specialists.
On November 13, SET will join with Money & Banking Magazine to hold the SET Awards 2009 ceremony to honor executives and listed, securities, and asset management companies in each category who have demonstrated outstanding performances important to the Thai capital market’s development.
Moreover, participants can join other interesting activities, including obtaining in-depth information on mutual fund performance and tax benefits from investing in RMFs and LTFs.
