Bangkok--5 Oct--Sofitel Centara Grand Bangkok
An exhibition of paintings depicting flowers in nature and in the floral markets is to be staged by Sofitel Centara Grand Bangkok from now until 16 October to raise funds for orphans and underprivileged children in Lampoon Province.
The works on display are by artist Jay Surasen, who is well-known for his paintings of flowers in markets, and in the fields, forests and mountains of Chiang Mai Province.
The exhibition will be on the Mezzanine floor of the hotel, open daily between 10:00 am. and 09:00 pm. In addition to bringing the popular floral works of Jay Surasen to Bangkok, the aim of the exhibition is to raise funds for the underprivileged children of 48 Pansa School, in Lampoon Province.
The name of the exhibition, The Beauty of Thailand’s Flora, reflects the diversity of the flowers and the places in which the artist captured their images.
Jay Surasen’s paintings are highly sought-after by visitors to Chiang Mai, particularly popular being works in acrylic and Chinese brush on canvas. He started holding solo exhibitions in 2005 and does so only once a year. His most successful exhibition, which made him well known throughout Thailand, was “Thailand’s Heart”, held in honour of the 80th birthday of His Majesty the King.
