Thai bourse and alliance partners encourage firms to list

ข่าวเศรษฐกิจ Tuesday October 6, 2009 07:59 —PRESS RELEASE LOCAL

Bangkok--6 Oct--SET “In Q4/2009, The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and its alliance partners will focus on encouraging companies promoted by the Board of Investment (BOI) and other firms to list on the Thai bourse. BOI-promoted firms which list will have their caps on income tax exemptions lifted. There is no limitation on the number of the projects eligible to receive benefits under this plan, which will greatly benefit business expansion. For example, Stars Microelectronics (Thailand) PCL is the first listed firm to have its cap on income tax exemption lifted, starting in 2009 until the end of its BOI-promoted period. From this month on, SET and BOI will emphasize on providing information to firms in industrial parks in Chonburi, Rayong, Ayutthaya, Phitsanulok, and Lamphun, focusing on the benefits they will receive from listing on SET or the Market for Alternative Investment (mai) for their business development; and creating understanding about tax privileges,” SET President Patareeya Benjapolchai revealed “Aside from collaborating with BOI, SET will join with its alliance partners to create a mechanism for potential listed firms to quickly receive information and services about how to list. Such partners include The Federation of Thai Industries, Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, financial advisory firms, and provincial governors,” added Ms. Patareeya. “SET aims to reach potential companies in the agricultural, food, jewelry, and toy industries, including heavy industries that need capital investment but cannot depend on its overseas mother companies. We believe that working with this network will stimulate companies’ interest to list,” she concluded. SET New Listing and Listed Companies Development Committee supports the above initiative to work through alliances to increase the number of listed firms. This committee consists of 16 representatives from the public and private sectors, chaired by Mr. Sompol Kiatphaibool.
