Bangkok--12 Oct--Spark Communications
On 29th September morning, KART (Kerry Asia Road Transport), the pioneer in ASEAN’s cross-border road transport service, helped Thailand’s leading beverage cans producer, TBC (Thai Beverage Can), to deliver four 40-foot full containers to a beverage producing customer in Lao Bao, Vietnam.
This shipment ran for a total 880 kilometers all the way from TBC’s factory in Saraburi, Thailand to its customer in Vietnam via the western gateway of Savanakhet and eastern Dansavanh border of Laos within three calendar days -- the lead time guaranteed by KART for customers running cargoes towards Lao Bao.
Transporting from Bangkok to Vietnam by road is at least one week faster than going by sea freight, and is comparable with the conventional air freight services, needless to mention the cost saving from the bulk carrying by road.
Mr. Chaiyavuthi Broese Van Groenou, General Manager of KART Thailand mentioned that with these favourable pull factors, KART expects an at-least 30-percent demand growth in their cross-border services via the EWEC (East Western Economic Corridor) linking up Thailand and Vietnam in 2010.
