Thai bourse to hold Young Financial Start Competition 2009

Bangkok--13 Oct--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) joins with Muang Thai Life Assurance Co., Ltd., PTT PCL and KBANK PCL will hold the Young Financial Star Competition 2009 (YFS 2009) competition in personal finance and securities analysis to prepare new generation of securities professionals in the capital market. Prizes, including scholarships and educational trips overseas, will be worth over THB3 million. The contest is open to university students from juniors on up and graduate students, aged under 25 years, and in any major. “SET is holding YFS 2009 for the seventh year to create more professional personnel, which will result in long-term capital market development and be in line with the Capital Market Development Fund mission. Also, by participating in YFS 2009, students will learn skills which will benefit the communities and society as a whole,” said Executive Director, SET Market Education Center Punsak Vejanurug. YFS 2009’s supporters will hold different activities and provide specialists to educate competitors. This year, 3,275 students have joined the competition, consisting of 2,018 students in the Planner group and 1,257 students in the Researcher group. Three hundred and twenty participants have passed the first round and are eligible to receive training courses and to participate in tests in each round, together with other activities to increase their knowledge. They will learn about both careers in personal finance and securities analysis. All activities will be held during October 2009-January 2010. The project is also supported by the Capital Market Development Fund Foundation, CFA Society of Thailand, Market for Alternative Investment (mai), Securities Analysts Association (SAA), Thai Financial Planners Association (TFPA), and Money Channel.
