Thai Airways International Public Company Limited will provide ground handling services for ASEAN leaders and dialogue partner leaders at Hua-Hin Airport, Thailand during the 15th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit between 23-25 October.
THAI is the official handling airline for the Summit. THAI Managing Director, Ground Customer Services, Mr. Lek Klinvibul, said, “THAI is proud to provide services to such a distinguished gathering of ASEAN leaders. THAI will be providing similar ground services for other important events in Thailand. A full ground handling service at Hua Hin includes aircraft technical handling and support, ground handling services equipment; ramp services, baggage handling, meeting and assisting visitors on arrival and departure.”
In association with the summit, THAI has also launched a “Visit ASEAN Airpass Fare” (VAAF) promotion, with ticket prices to promote tourism in ASEAN countries. Thailand assumed the ASEAN one and a half year chairmanship in July last year. Thailand has summarized its priorities during that term with the three Rs: realizing the commitments under the ASEAN charter; revitalizing a people centered community and reinforcing human development and security for all the people of the region.
About ASEAN: the five original members, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, established ASEAN in 1967 in Bangkok. Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia joined over the next 32 years. As of 2006 the ASEAN region had a population of about 560 million and a combined gross domestic product of almost USD1100 billion.
