Bangkok--26 Oct--USCRI Thailand
Recently, the United States Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) lead by Country Director Veerawit Tienchainan, joined in the 4th Clutter Sales at Four Seasons , Bangkok for the first time to raise awareness about refugee warehousing in Thailand. The main event “Clutter Sales” promoted the awareness and concern about breast cancer and also raised fund for the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer for cancer research. USCRI participated this year under the invitation from the Public Relations Manager, Annabelle S. Daokaew at Four Seasons Hotel, Bangkok, with the hope the help our society as a while. Afterall, charities are done always for a good cause for the people coexisted in the world.
The USCRI wishs to spread concerns about the living condition of the refugees around the borders of Thailand. Because they are refugees, they become displaced from their homes. And we are not able to allow them to have freedom to live or to work inside or outside the camps. Therefore, many problems exist such as crime, poor living condition, abuses, and many other serious social problems. And the people in the camps wait to be relocated sometimes for 20-30 years. Some of them grew up in the camp, some died there. It becomes the issue of warehousing of human beings. USCRI begs for public understanding and sympathy to this minority group of people.
Joined at the booth are Ajarn Ann-Chatchanit Musigchai Mahaguna, Malai Oranop Na Ayuthaya, Stitchai Mahaguna, Chatwarut Musigchai, Itchaya Liengchayet, and many other celebrities who came to help both charities.
