Bangkok--29 Oct--Thai Airways International
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI), and Amadeus, the leading global technology partner for the travel and tourism industry, today announced the signing of a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU). The MOU allows the airline to assess the first phase of rolling out the Amadeus Alt?a Customer Management System (CMS), the official Common IT Platform (CITP) of the Star Alliance.
Pruet Boobphakam, THAI’s Executive Vice President, Commercial Department, said that THAI’s decision to sign the MOU to assess Alt?a emerges from its position as a founding member of Star Alliance and its commitment to the group, which selected Alt?a as its CITP. Furthermore, the assessment of Alt?a was an obvious choice given THAI’s long-time partnership with Amadeus.
As the CITP of the Star Alliance, Alt?a will enable THAI to be on a single data platform, providing synergies with partner airlines, and offering customers an enhanced and consistent level of service across airlines. Full migration to the Alt?a system will also help THAI to cross-sell and service customers more effectively with its partner airlines.
Although THAI has used the Amadeus Reservations System for the past 19 years, the MOU lays out plans for the carrier to begin a thorough evaluation of the implementation of the Amadeus Alt?a Ticketing, Inventory and Departure Control modules. These would replace THAI’s long-standing ROYAL in-house system.
“THAI seeks the Alt?a solution as a strategic move towards next-generation customer management systems, complete with IT capabilities made possible through IT outsourcing. This industry-leading system will equip THAI’s passenger service with the latest technologies, allowing the airline to remain at the forefront of a rapidly changing airline industry where IT development and automation are constantly evolving,” said Mr. Boobphakam.
The Amadeus Alt?a CMS will help THAI to significantly reduce the ongoing costs associated with IT development and maintenance, as well as automate processes that previously have been carried out manually, by controlling and monitoring end-to-end business processes more efficiently.
Mr. Boobphakam further said, “The Amadeus-driven Star Alliance CITP holds advantages in many areas and will further improve our customer service levels, as well as provide enhanced integration with our Star Alliance partners. As a leading airline in Asia Pacific, THAI is proud to sign this MOU with Amadeus for cutting-edge technologies that will enhance the travel experience of our customers.”
David Brett, President, Amadeus Asia Pacific, said, “Amadeus is delighted that THAI, a long-standing and valued partner of Amadeus, has decided to consider upgrading its current IT system with Amadeus’ industry-leading and innovative Alt?a CMS. By joining other Star Alliance member airlines in using the CITP, THAI will be able to maximise its partnership with these carriers, pool IT resources and ultimately build passenger loyalty through seamless service at consistently high levels.”
Fifteen Star Alliance member carriers, including Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines, in addition to 50 other airlines around the world, have chosen the full Amadeus Alt?a CMS platform, in addition to 50 other airlines around the world.
