Boots Announces New Service for ‘Erectile Dysfunction Pill’ Market

Bangkok--18 Nov--Maxima Consultants Boots Retail (Thailand) Limited today announces new service for selling erectile dysfunction medicine to persons holding doctor’s prescription effective from today November 16, 2006 to help government on solving problem of fake erectile dysfunction drugs. The company aimed to open 5 stores nationwide by the end of this year and additional of more than 10 stores within 2010, despites the economic and political uncertainty. Mr.Ian Hunter, Managing Director of Boots Retail (Thailand) Ltd said ‘Boots Retail Thailand aims to be the best pharmacy leader chain in Thailand. We care about our customers and want them to live healthier lives. Boots has earned accreditation for its pharmacies for selling quality drugs by The Pharmacy Council under Ministry of Public Health. Currently there are over 300 Boots licensed pharmacists for expert advice during the opening hours at every store. Lately, 121 Boots stores are certified to sell erectile dysfunction pill to customers with a doctor’s prescription from a total of over 350 certified pharmacies nationwide. It is the biggest retail chain to sell this restricted medicine. The overall market value on erectile dysfunction pill consumption in Thailand is around 300 million Baht, through the accreditation Boots expects to earn over 50% market share.’ Mr.Gordon Farquhar, Managing Director of Boots International from United Kingdom during his visit to Thailand mentioned ‘through the rebound of economic recovery, Boots has a massive development plan to repositioning our network stores worldwide from pharmacy store to pharmacy-led health and beauty retailing. For example, 135 Apotheek drug stores in Netherlands and 160 Apotex drug stores in Norway will be revamped to pharmacy-led health and beauty retailing same as Boots. The company also aims to open more Boots stores in U.S.A. Besides Boots in U.K, Boots stores in Thailand is considered our main market as earning 50% from the total of Boots international.
