Today at 09.39 hours, Somdej Phra Buddhajarn, Chairman of the Sanga Supreme Council, presided over the anointing ceremony for Thai Airways International Public Company Limited’s two new aircraft, an Airbus A340-500 and Airbus A340-600. Mr. Piyasvasti Amranand, President, Thai Airways at THAI’s International, and members of management were present at the ceremony held in the Ramp Area at THAI’s Technical Department, Suvarnabhumi Airport.
THAI’s Airbus A340-500 is registered as HS-TLC, royally bestowed the name “PHITSANULOK” and its Airbus A340-600 is registered as HS-TND, royally bestowed the name of “PHETCHABURI”. Both aircraft are powered by Rolls Royce Trent with an inflight entertainment system offering 38 entertaining movies, 80 albums, 21 games, 30 hours of documentaries, and world news, entertaining all passengers.
The Airbus A340-500 registered as HS-TLC was royally bestowed the name of “PHITSANULOK” and will be operated on international routes such as Los Angeles and Athens, accommodating 215 seats that include 60 Business Class seats, 42 Premium Economy Class seats and 155 Economy Class seats with the following details:
- Business Class seat width of 20 inches, 60-inch seat pitch, 10.4-inch personal screen and headphone.
- Premium Economy Class seat width of 19 inches, 42-inch seat pitch and 9-inch personal screen and headphone.
- Economy Class seat width of 17.4 inches, 36-inch seat pitch and 9-inch personal screen and headphone.
The Airbus A340-600 registered as HS-TND was royally bestowed the name of “PHETCHABURI” and will be operated on international routes such as Narita, Shanghai, Zurich and Sydney, accommodating 267 seats divided into 8 Royal First Class seats, 60 Royal Silk Class seats and 199 Economy Class seats with the following details:
- Royal First Class seat width of 22 inches, 76-inch seat pitch and seat recline of 180 degrees, 10.4-inch personal screen with headphones.
- Royal Silk Class seat width of 20 inches, 60-inch seat pitch and seat recline of 180 degrees, 10.4-inch personal screen with headphones.
- Economy Class seat width of 17.5 inches, with 34-inch seat pitch and seat recline of 180 degrees, 9-inch personal screen with headphones.
THAI currently has a total of 90 aircraft in its fleet, comprised of 47 Boeing, 42 Airbus and 1 ATR aircraft.
