Bangkok--27 Nov--Mekong Media How have economic integration and openness shaped the media environment in the Mekong region? What do audiences expect in the age of more openness? What changes in press laws and access to information have taken place in the last 15 years? These are just some of the questions to be discussed and debated at the Mekong Media Forum, to be held at the Holiday Inn in Chiang Mai, Thailand on Dec. 9-12, 2009. The Forum will gather Mekong journalists, policymakers, civil society and others to discuss the state of media, as well as exchange ideas and experiences against the backdrop of media as an actor of social change. It will feature a mix of panel discussions, film showings, photo exhibits and visual presentations, book and DVD launches. The Forum is being organised by Inter Press Service Asia-Pacific News Agency (www.ipsnewsasia.net ) and Probe Media Foundation (www.probefound.com ) with major support from The Rockefeller Foundation and MDG3 Fund. For more information and to register, visit http://mekongmediaforum.net , or email [email protected], or call IPS Asia-Pacific at 02 246 7877/78.
