One of the top events in the yachting world, the Phuket King's Cup Regatta now in its 23rd year was officially opened on the evening of Sunday, 29 November 2009 at Kata Beach Resort & Spa. Crowded with world-class skippers and their followers, VIP guests, tourists, and general public, the opening ceremony was honourably presided over by Khun Tri Akaradecha Vice Governor of Phuket, and Vice Admiral Apiwat Srivardhana Commander, Royal Thai Naval Academy, and representative of YRAT.
The 23rd Phuket King’s Cup Regatta is held 29 November — 5 December. The Regatta’s origins included a majority of dinghies and a small fleet of keel boats. This year the Regatta returns to its roots with a weekend of dinghy racing prior to the start of the 23rd Phuket King’s Cup Regatta.
