Thai Airways International Public Company Limited is honored and proud to be chosen by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to promote and publicize Thai kitchens to the world at “The World Exposition Shanghai China, 2010”. THAI’s Catering Department will offer Thai food and beverages in Sala Thai at “The World Exposition Shanghai China, 2010” during 1 May — 31 October 2010, in Shanghai, the People’s Republic of China.
THAI Catering has selected special menus specially for EXPO 2010. As Thai herbs are widely used ingredients in meal production for their flavor and qualities, THAI Catering will offer popular menus prepared with Thai herb ingredients, which is also well-known amongst the Chinese. Five main dishes will be offered, which are Guay Tiao Tom Yum Koong (Spicy Noodle Soup with Shrimp), Kao Soy Kai (Noodles in Chicken Curry), Shrimp Pad Thai (Thai Style Fried Rice Noodles with Shrimp), Kao Krapao Moo (Rice Served with Stir Fried Basil with Pork) and Sticky Rice served with Somtum (Papaya Salad) and Grilled Chicken. An additional five alternate dishes will also be prepared, which include Kao Kai Saamros (Rice with Thai Stir Fried Chicken), Guay Tiao Moo Sub Tom Yum (Spicy Minced Pork Noodle), Kao Moo Pun Tod Kratiam (Rice with Fried Minced Pork Ball Garlic), Todd Mun Pla Krai (Special Fried Fish Cakes and Guay Tiao Tom Kha Kai (Noodles in Chicken with Galangal Coconut Milk Soup). All ingredients to be used in meal production can be purchased from leading supermarkets in Shanghai. THAI will also employ locals fluent in both Thai and Chinese language in order to facilitate coordination.
In 2005, THAI was part of World Exhibition, in cooperation with the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, to offer Thai food and beverages for participants at the Aichi Expo in Japan. At the Aichi Expo 2005, Guay Tiao Tom Yum Koong (Spicy Noodle Soup with Shrimp) was voted as Best Delicious Food.
THAI’s participation at EXPO 2010 will help promote Thai cuisine to the world, in support to the Thai Government, and will be beneficial towards further boosting Thailand’s reputation and popularity amongst travelers and passengers alike.
