Bangkok--23 Mar--SET
The Stock Exchange of Thailand launched the SET Junior Financial Club 2010 (SET JFC 2010) as one of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects celebrating the SET’s 35th anniversary. The program promotes prudent saving by youth and spending school breaks on socially beneficial activities.
SET President Patareeya Benjapolchai revealed that SET has continually operated with CSR, including by promoting education for youth. Having an understanding of personal finance is fundamental for children if they wish to grow up as one of Thailand’s valuable resources, being able to plan their future prudently, and in a manner supporting long-term economic development.
“The SET JFC, under the concept ‘Fly Smart to…Your Future’, developed from SET’s middle school program, started in 2001, is free for participants, and has received good feedback each year. This year, students will get to learn about life and financial planning with more fun and contents, together with about business administration, such as junior entrepreneur projects for junior high students (Matayom 1-3) and junior international entrepreneur projects for high school students (Matayom 4-6), which will allow children to have more business experience. Students joining the programs will receive Maruey Library memberships and the right to join other youth education activities” said Ms. Patareeya.
The SET JFC has openings for 400 junior high to high school (Matayom 1-6) students (4 groups in 4 provinces, 100 students each,), during the April-May school break. One hundred students who pass SET JFC’s summer program will be eligible to join another SET JFC activity in October. Applications are taken on-line from now until April 9 at www.tsi-thailand.org.
SET JFC 2010 is scheduled for April 23-25 at Khon Kaen, April 27-29 at Songkla, May 1-3 at Bangkok, and May 4-6 at Chiang Mai. Students are trained by experienced instructors, and SET employees have volunteered to supervise and assist class activities.
Apart from SET Junior Financial Club, SET plans for more youth education programs this year, such as 35th Anniversary for 35 Saving Techniques, Young Financial Star Competition, and Diamond Crown in Economics Contest.
