Bangkok--26 Mar--Master Mind Communications Three Sugar Millers Associations joined Australian sugar mill suppliers, in the 6th Thai - Australian Sugar Industry Dialogue aim to examine the operating environment and explore opportunities that may exist for the two industries to work more closely together. Mr. Prakit Pradipasen, Co-Chairman of the dialogue and Chairman of the Three Sugar Millers Associations revealed that Three Sugar Millers Associations and the Australian sugar mill suppliers, from Australia, have agreed to build up the positive relationship existing between the two countries alongside the changes of global trend in sugar industry. “The first conference between Thai and Australian sugar mill suppliers has been held in Australia on May 2005. It has set twice a year normally. This time has taken place in Thailand. The past conference seems to be exceptionally useful data for sugar industry development in both countries” Mr. Prakit said. The global overview in sugar market developments is the core issue in this conference. Besides the update situations of sugar cane and sugar industry in Thailand and Australia are crucial. The meeting emphasized on sugar and ethanol, production supply-chain from cane field to consumers. Additionally, the progress of WTO Doha round, Thai and Australian perspective about AFTA, ASEAN, Australia-New Zealand FTA, an EU increase in subsidized sugar export volumes matter, and also the Global Sugar Alliance activities in 2010 are reported. “The vital point of this session is well cooperation between both countries particularly in trading, marketing, information and technical knowledge exchange, and monitoring all sugar trading negotiations in both local and global area.” Mr.Prakit concluded that “the focus of this session is technical drivers and impediments to industry productivity.
