Art aficionados will truly enjoy the Free Range Art Festival, where graduate art and design students showcase their work. To be held at the Truman Brewery in London’s Brick Lane from 3 June — 26 July, the festival is now on its 10th year. Featuring more than 100 university courses from across the UK, Free Range provides visitors with a unique opportunity to meet the hottest new creative talents all under one roof. Another exhibition not to be missed is the Masterpiece London, a new event concept taking place on 24-29 June. It is designed to present the world’s leading dealers who will showcase the fine and decorative arts, contemporary design, fine wine, classic cars, jewellery and other premium collectors’ items. Throughout the week restaurants, pubs, cafes and bars will offer special menus offering fish dishes from fish tapas to freshly dressed local crab salads, and seafood chowders. The centre will include a national brewing museum and a visitor centre that explains the UK’s influence on the world’s brewing techniques. The exhibits will be interactive, with actors, animatronics, holograms and multimedia technology. The actors will be in character to help make the experience as authentic as possible. There will be a vintage vehicle collection including a working steam engine. There will also be master-classes for over-18s on the different tastes of beer based on ingredients and brewing processes, and how to match different foods with beers. And there will be a traditional pub on the site. Britain remains a major brewing country and the importance of beer — its past, present and future — will be promoted by the museum.
