Chat for Health, a new company founded by major supplier of food flavourings NST Food Ingredients Ltd, is introducing a new, instant natural drink with the name “Chat”. It comes in five flavours with 100 per-cent healthy, natural ingredients. Chat for Health is aiming to penetrate the health beverage market with sales revenue goal of 30 million baht for the rest of 2010 and growth of 10 per cent each year.
Nikom Supmonchai, Managing Director of Chat for Health Ltd, noted that consumers today are concerned to choose natural food for their health care, but truly natural, additive-free products are still rare. As a flavouring producer with 20 years experience in the food industry, NST Food Ingredients has comprehensive resources for research and development as well as the technology and machinery. This enabled the company to develop Chat for Health as an instant natural drink under the Chat brand especially for health-conscious consumers.
Chat products deliver the authentic flavours of Thai fruit and herbs in 5 tasty blends: Mangosteen and Roselle, Mulberry and Roselle, Butterfly Pea and Lime, Pandan and Safflower, and Lemongrass and Safflower. These ingredients contain healthy ingredients including antioxidants such as xanthones in mangosteens, anthocyanins in roselles and butterfly peas, quercetin in mulberries, and beta-carotene and flavonoids in safflowers.
Antioxidants help to delay ageing and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, Alzheimer’s, cancer, cataract and diabetes. Lemongrass and pandan also contain essential oils that help relieve excess gas and have a relaxing effect. Chat products contain no artificial colouring, flavouring or preservatives. They are lightly sweet and easily soluble in hot or cold water.
“We developed Chat products as an instant beverage powder in small packets rather than as a ready-to-drink bottled beverage as the healthy substances in the powdered products will be less vulnerable to natural degradation,” Nikom explained. “Their colour, smell and taste will be slow to change, so we had no need to put in food additives. Our products can be kept for about a year -- and they’ll probably help to reduce the number of plastic bottles in use.
“Chat can be made easily with hot or cold water. You just need to adjust the strength of the solution to suit your taste. Or you can mix Chat with other ingredients to create exciting new drinks,” he said.
Thailand’s health beverage market is now worth over four billion baht with a possible growth rate that may amount to 100 to 150 per cent this year. The company introduced itself to the market in the latter half of the year, and it aims to generate sales revenue of 30 million baht by the year end. Its next year goal is set at 80 million baht with an annual growth of 10 per cent each year.
At the launch event for Chat products, some well known celebrities showed how to mix Chat beverage powder in new creative cold drinks to suit their own lifestyles. It began with Changnoi Kunjara na Ayudhaya and his Butterfly Pea and Lemon with Soda, a colourful, sparkling drink with brisk, refreshing feel.
Kornkanok Yongsakul followed with her Mulberry and Roselle Frappe, a ruby red iced drink for smart ladies with a sweet tooth, and Capt Wantita Lewchalermwong presented her Mangosteen and Roselle Smoothie, a delicious blend of Chat mangosteen and roselle and yogurt, milk, banana, syrup and ice to create a filling and nutritious beverage for the day.
Chat instant natural drinks are available at all branches of Tops Market and Tops Food Hall. For more information about the brand and its consumer community, visit www.chat4health.com
