After waiting for four years, fans of soccer around the world finally got a chance to celebrate the kick off of the FIFA World Cup 2010 where the Grand Opening Ceremony was taken place successfully at the ‘Soccer City’ Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa. The shows reflected the image and features of South African culture as well as traditional South African games. In Bangkok, the arrival of the World Cup also ushered in a special function hosted by the South African Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Douglas Gibson. The event was organized in style under the theme of South African Braai (Barbeque) with the ambassadors from the countries whose team are in the 32-final round, the VIP guests and the media attended the event with cheerful costume of national soccer jersey.
To add a touch of extra class to the event, Mont Clair, the award-winning South African imported wine by Siam Winery, was brought in unlimitedly for everyone to enjoy. The famous red, white and the premium Mont Clair Sparkling were available for the guests along with the cheering sounds during the first match between the host and the Mexican team. Mont Clair also prepared specially designed Mont Clair Trophy for each ambassador of the final-round countries as a souvenir for this special occasion.
