THAI Holds Anointing Ceremony for Two Aircraft

Bangkok--23 Jun--Thai Airways Today at 09.29 hours, Somdej Phra Maha Thirajarn , Wat Chanasongkram, presided over the anointing ceremony for Thai Airways International Public Company Limited’s two aircraft, a Boeing 777-200ER and Airbus A340-600. Mr. Piyasvasti Amranand, THAI President, and members of Management were present at the ceremony held in the Ramp Area at THAI’s Technical Department at Suvarnabhumi Airport. THAI's Boeing 777-200ER, registered as HS-TJS, is royally bestowed the name “PHRA NAKHON,” and the Airbus A340-600 registered as HS-TNC is royally bestowed the name “CHON BURI.” Rolls Royce Trent engines power both aircraft. For passenger enjoyment both aircraft come with an in-flight entertainment system that offer 30 movie selections, 110 music album choices, 31 electronic games and world news. The Boeing 777-200ER (HS-TJS, “PHRA NAKHON”) will operate on international routes to Johannesburg, Sydney, Moscow and Athens, carrying 292 passengers — 30 in Business Class and 262 in Economy Class with the following seating features: - Business Class seat width of 20 inches, 61-inch seat pitch and seat recline of 163 degrees, 15-inch personal screen and headphone - Economy Class seat width of 17.78 inches, 34-inch seat pitch and 9-inch personal screen and headphone The Airbus A340-600 (HS-TNC, “CHON BURI”) will operate on international routes to Dubai, Shanghai, Zurich and Sydney, carrying 267 passengers — eight in Royal First Class, 60 in Royal Silk Class and 199 in Economy Class with the following seating features: - Royal First Class seat width of 22 inches, 76-inch seat pitch and seat recline of 180 degrees, 10.4-inch personal screen with headphones - Royal Silk Class seat width of 20 inches, 60-inch seat pitch and seat recline of 167 degrees, 10.4-inch personal screen with headphones - Economy Class seat width of 17.5 inches, with 34-inch seat pitch and seat recline of 122 degrees, 9-inch personal screen with headphones THAI currently has 46 Boeing aircraft and 45 Airbus aircraft, totaling 91 in its fleet.
