The press conference is a soft launch of the drama “Dok Som Sri Thong”, starring famous actress Araya Hargate as “Reya”, a highly confident and ambitious young woman, with Witthaya Wasukraipaisarn and Louis Scott, two new superstars of TV Channel 3.
The well-plotted romance and intensity romance features a number of episodes filmed in April 2010 in stunning scenic locations of New Zealand’s North Island.
His Excellency Mr. Bede Corry, New Zealand Ambassador to Thailand, who presided over the press conference, said, “New Zealand’s stunning natural landscape, vibrant cultural mix, and excellent infrastructure make it a dream destination for overseas visitors, especially Thais. It comes as no surprise to me that “Dok Som Sri Thong” was filmed in New Zealand. Thais who watch the programme will see for themselves why New Zealand has become a number one tourist destination, and I am sure it will encourage those who have not yet visited to do so soon!”.
Roskamol Vongchowanart, Tourism New Zealand’s Manager Thailand, added: “The drama includes the highlights of both scenic and cultural attractions in North Island, such as the spectacular Huka Falls in Taupo, Te Puia thermal reserves in Rotorua and the romantic scenic lookout on Mount Eden in Auckland, to name a few. In addition, the cast and crew also experienced the unique architecture of Art Deco design in Napier, a small Pacific-coast city, all of which have given the drama series a perfect match of filming locations, outstanding scripts and talented actors and actresses. The many stunning locations in New Zealand used in the filming will certainly offer viewers everything they need from a great drama”.
Arunocha Panuphan, Managing Director, Broadcast Thai Television, said: “Based on Dok Som Sri Thong’s plot, no other place but New Zealand is the perfect fit to film this romantic drama series. The country’s magical scenic beauty provided highly romantic atmosphere for the storyline. The filming locations of Auckland, Rotorua and Napier, including their tourism attractions and activities, offered stunning picturesque background. Supported by the talents of the main actors & actress, I believe the drama will be highly accepted by Thai audience.
