The political turmoil in Bangkok affected business in the Ratchaprasong area as well as caused negative images of Bangkok’s tourist destinations. In order to recover the image of Ratchaprasong and tourist attractions in Bangkok which has great significance for the Thai economy, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) together with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and private sector in the Ratchaprasong area are organizing the “Smile@Ratchaprasong” event on 2 - 4 July, 2010 at the Ratchaprasong area with the objectives;
To revive tourists’ confidence back to travel to Bangkok and Ratchaprasong
To help business operators in the Ratchaprasong area after the political unrest
To encourage the people in Bangkok and international tourists to go shopping in the area
Tourists will enjoy their shopping in the area for promotional sales and enjoy entertainment. Shoppers will also have an opportunity to win prizes when they spend any amount on their purchase at the participating outlets; such as Isetan, Amarin Plaza, Erawan Bangkok, Cental Chidlom, Gaysorn Plaza, Siam Paragon, Siam Centre, Siam Discovery and others.
