Conrad Bangkok welcomes Celebrity Guest Chef Sam Leong from Singapore for a very special ten-day “Contemporary Chinese Cuisine” promotion at Liu, the Hotel’s Chinese restaurant. The promotion will take place from 5 to 14 August, 2010.
The “Contemporary Chinese Cuisine” promotion is jointly organized by the Conrad Bangkok together with Singapore Airlines and FIN Wine Company.
Sam Leong, Singapore’s own culinary legend, is one of the world’s greatest chefs, with an impressive collection of prestigious international accolades such as the “World Gourmet Summit Awards of Excellence - Asian Ethnic Chef of the Year” Award in 2001, 2002 and 2004, Executive Chef of the Year in 2005 and 2009, and “Chef of the Year” in the Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards (HAPA) in 2006. He is the Director of Kitchens for the renowned Tung Lok Group and the maestro behind the modern Chinese cuisine served at many famous restaurants in Singapore such as Lao Beijing, My Humble House, Space@My Humble House and Paddy Field Thai Restaurant. He is also the author of two best-selling cookbooks and stars in a TV cooking show.
In 2005, Singapore Airlines appointed Chef Leong and seven other world-renowned chefs to its International Culinary Panel (ICP) and tasked them with designing distinct signature dishes for Singapore Airlines passengers in all seating classes and all flight routes.
Chef Leong has also worked with such world-renowned chefs as Satish Arora (India), Georges Blanc (France), Matthew Moran (Australia), Yoshihiro Murata (Japan), Nancy Oakes (San Francisco,USA), Alfred Portale (New York, USA), Gordon Ramsay (UK) and Young Koon Yat (Hong Kong).
Chef Leong’s first experience with the culinary arts was obtained working for his father - a respected chef in his own right who ran their family’s very popular restaurant in Malaysia. Under his father’s guidance, Leong developed a focus on absolute quality, speed of work and diligence. His early training instilled in him a desire to always strive to be the best.
Chef Leong has served his creative signature dishes to world-famous international celebrities, including former US President Bill Clinton, Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong, Queen Elizabeth II and other highly respected political leaders.
For this very exclusive promotion at Conrad Bangkok, Chef Leong will introduce his creative modern Chinese cuisine dishes to Liu’s customers for ten days, as well as conduct a cooking demonstration, including lunch and a certificate on Saturday 7 August, 2010.
