Sbo is prepared to attract high-end consumers in Thailand with premium kitchen appliances under the brand name of GLEM from Italy. The company will begin to market the first lot of product items from the kitchen appliance giant from Italy having owners of houses with value of at least 5 million baht in mind. The initial lot of products includes 30 kitchen appliance items such as electric stove, oven and rangehood with highlights on innovative designs and premium brand recognition. Sales target for the first year are expected at 50 million baht.
Mrs. Supaporn Sontijirawong, Managing Director of the Signature Brand Co., Ltd. (Sbo), importer and marketer of electrical and gas kitchen appliances from Italy, disclosed that her company was planning to market both electrical and gas kitchen appliances from GLEM, Italian kitchen appliance giant, within the 3rd quarter of 2010. She said products from GLEM came with wide variety and quality that satisfied professional cooking.
Sbo will market GLEM products in Thailand after realizing the huge market opportunity within the premium segment of both electrical and gas kitchen appliances, which represents 10% of the total market value worth 3 billion baht a year. “We admit that competition is not so tough and more and more modern consumers now enjoy the lifestyle of cooking at home, which are the reasons why GLEM products can be marketed seriously this time,” she said.
“We see the opportunity and we take it by importing premium kitchen appliances from GLEM, which has been the trusted and respected name in over 84 countries around the world. We believe GLEM products will be able to satisfy the needs of high-end customers with excellent purchasing power through innovative designs, technologies, quality raw materials and established brand name,” she explained.
Sbo Managing Director continued that during the initial stages, around 30 product items including electric stove, oven and rangehood would be imported to create a foothold. “Starting prices will be at 100,000 baht and the products will be available at over 20 premium retail outlets around the Kingdom such as Home Pro, Home Work and Boontaworn Kitchen Store Studio with focus on consumers living in houses worth at least 5 million baht. The company will be spending 10-15% of the annual expected sales to fuel marketing communications, which highlights design excellence and technological innovation that can truly fulfill functional requirements,” she said.
GLEM is certainly becoming a new alternative for consumers with excellent purchasing power and first year’s sales of 50 million baht.
