Bangkok--12 Jul--TCEB
TCEB has revised its plans for Thailand’s MICE industry in the wake of the recent political protests by prioritizing the strengthening of its network of strategic alliances. Emphasizing the role of public-private sector partnerships, TCEB has boosted its efforts to boost Thailand’s international exhibition market through the "Extra Night, Extra Smile" campaign. The promotion enhances existing privileges offered to groups of exhibition visitors from all countries around the world. The campaign will be promoted through road shows and participation in key trade shows to build confidence among "ASEAN Plus Six" member countries. TCEB expects the strategy will help boost visitor numbers and earn additional revenues of more than 125 million Baht.
Mr Akapol Sorasuchart, President of the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB, announced that, “TCEB has focused on speeding recovery and rebuilding Thailand’s image and confidence in our key target countries. Our goal is to sustain international MICE visitor numbers above 2009 levels. Because the MICE industry’s long-term success depends upon market confidence and effective planning, TCEB has prioritized its efforts through road shows in key countries. These activities aim to raise awareness of Thailand’s readiness and capacity to host international MICE events, and also provide marketing support to the industry to attract more MICE travelers to host their events in Thailand."
“In order to stimulate Thailand’s exhibition industry TCEB has received excellent cooperation from both government agencies and the private sector, including the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the Trade Exhibition Association (Thai) or TEA, Thai International Convention Association (Thai) or TICA, Thai Hotels Association, Thai Airways International, trade associations, leading department stores, Siam Museum and various cultural attractions. Our aim is to build on the success of TCEB’s "Extra Night, Extra Smile" campaign by broadening our network of participating business partners, and combine the strengths of each organization to generate creative and innovative business opportunities to enhance the sector’s competitiveness.
“TCEB has always stressed the importance of building a network of key partners in its overall strategy. What’s different now is that this time we have built on the unique strengths of each partner to create programs and activities offering even more value to MICE travelers from around the world who plan to participate in exhibition events in Thailand. Our promotional programs offer privileges covering business connections, entertainment and lifestyle. We want the world to see Thailand’s full potential, and demonstrate that Thailand is ready as always to welcome MICE travelers with a smile," Mr. Akapol added.
Mrs Supawan Teerarat, TCEB International Exhibitions Director, disclosed that TCEB’s ‘Extra Night, Extra Smile’ campaign forms part of its international marketing plan. “Our online marketing strategy has proved to be an effective, convenient and low-cost route to reach our target groups within the exhibition industry throughout the world, and allow them to reach TCEB any time, anywhere. Moreover, we aim to intensify our plan through road shows and trade shows, starting with the ‘ASEAN+6’ countries (China, Japan, Korea, India, Australia and New Zealand).”
“The ‘Extra Night, Extra Smile’ campaign offers additional privileges and discounts, and offers one free night’s stay for visitors and international exhibitors staying at least 2 nights in Thailand. Also, under this campaign, MICE visitors are given VIP treatment through the provision of a fast-track MICE Lane at the immigration checkpoint at Suvarnabhumi International Airport, discounts on airport transfers, city tours, discounts at leading department stores, cultural tourism attractions and entertainment places. The campaign aims to encourage overseas MICE groups to make the decision to travel to Thailand.”
In closing, Mr Akapol said, “The ‘Extra Night, Extra Smile’ campaign will demonstrate the readiness, commitment and resilience of Thailand’s MICE industry to deliver world-class service and continuously develop the industry. We are confident that the strategies we are implementing together with other government agencies and the private sector will contribute to long-term industry growth, and attract many more international business travelers to Thailand. We expect this year’s campaigns to generate additional MICE revenues of 125 million baht.”
