Standard Chartered Bank (Thai) Pcl. recently appointed Ms. Lyn Kok as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective 20 July, 2010.
Ms. Lyn Kok replaces Mr. Mark Devadason who has been President and CEO of Standard Chartered Bank (Thai) for the past over two years and moves to the new role of Group Head of Regions, Corporate Affairs in Hong Kong.
Immediately prior to this posting, Ms. Kok had been Managing Director, Country Head of Strategy & Corporate Development and General Manager, Beijing for Chartered Bank (China) Limited since 2006.
She has wide ranging banking background and worked in a variety of top-level positions for Standard Chartered Bank throughout the Asia Pacific region.
In China, she was a member of the country executive management committee and responsible for the strategic positioning of the bank in China. As General Manager of Beijing, she oversaw all aspects of the bank’s business in Beijing. From 2001-2003, she worked for Standard Chartered Bank in Thailand as country head of Corporate & Institutional Banking, Wholesale Banking, overseeing the business integration of Nakornthon Bank’s corporate & institutional banking. Prior to that, she worked with Standard Chartered Bank in Malaysia and Hong Kong.
Before joining Standard Chartered in Malaysia in 1997, she held various senior positions in sales, syndications and debt recovery in Toronto, Hong Kong and Singapore with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and the Chase Manhattan Bank. She began her career in banking when she joined Citibank’s Treasury unit in 1985.
