Impact Exhibition Management is joining forces with the Kennel Club of Thailand, Thai Pet Product Industries Association and the Perfect Companion Group, manufacturers of SmartHeart dog food, to host the ‘FCI Asian and the Pacific Section Dog Show 2010’, the first international dog show and integrated trade show to be mounted in Thailand. It will be at the Impact Exhibition and Convention Centre, Muang Thong Thani, Hall 2-3, from October 21 to October 24, 2010.
The purpose of the show is to put Thailand’s potential on display to the world, and show that it is the ideal destination and the perfect host for the world’s biggest Dog Show -- and many others to come in the future.
Putsara Suntrangkoon, President of the Kennel Club of Thailand, said that the success of the recent SmartHeart Presents: Thailand International Dog Show 2010 had proved that Thailand has the potential of being an ideal host for pet-related trade shows, and could be sure of an overwhelming international response. The country had already made its mark as an international arena, and this had been welcomed by enthusiasts around the world. Now, Thailand has been honoured by being chosen as the host of the FCI Asian and the Pacific Section Dog Show 2010, as well as the annual conference of the Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI) and the Asian Kennel Union. It will be in the form of a one-stop service international trade show exhibiting products and services for dogs.
It is a tradition that the host of the conference must also organize a dog competition as a mark of its readiness to undertake the role of a good host. This is always taken into consideration whenever a country is a candidate for hosting a major international dog show.
Receiving the honour of hosting this conference is proof that Thailand has raised its standards of dog ownership and the care and training of pets to a world class level. It is the continuous development of standards in Thailand that have advanced the nation’s dog breeding to be the equal of any in the world.
"The objective of the event is not only aim to promote Thailand as a hub of organized dog shows -- the largest in Asia -- but also to urge the FCI to accelerate the process of certifying the nation’s own breeds, the Thai Ridgeback Dog (Thai Lung Arn), and Thai Bangkaew Dog, as two pure breeds with world class qualities that deserve world class respect and recognition. We hope, too, that this will stimulate the intention of Thai people to conserve and develop our own national breeds,” said Putsara.
During the conference, the Kennel Club of Thailand will hold a dog competition specifically for Thai Ridgeback Dog and Thai Bangkaew, the only specific breed round. It will be the first time that Thai and overseas visitors will have the opportunity to observe the splendour of the nation’s local heroes. There will be at least 50 Thai Bangkaew dogs entering the contest, the biggest ever assembly of this special canine breed in Thailand.
Nantapol Tantiwongampai, president of the Thai Pet Product Industries Association, pointed to the latest data from the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion showing that pet related businesses in Thailand had market value of some 10,500 million baht and an annual growth rate of 10 to 15 per cent. One factor supporting this growth is the public attitude towards keeping pets: people now think of them as one of the family, and feel that they deserve to be treated as family members.
“The FCI Asian and the Pacific Section Dog Show 2010 will be an ideal platform where traders and entrepreneurs from the Asia-Pacific Region can display and trade their products and services and discuss business to extend their markets to new territories. It’s a place where Thai businesses seeking to penetrate Asia-Pacific markets should certainly not miss,” said Nantapol.
Suphakrit Asawachaiporn Vice President of Perfect Companion Group, manufacturers of SmartHeart dog food, expressed the hope that the event would not only promote Thailand as a world hub for dog shows, but also encourage people to love and care for their pets, and help the country’s pet business to develop still further.
“As our company is the major sponsor of the show, it’s a great pleasure for me to be helping to make it happen,” he said.
“I want to invite all dog lovers and exhibitors to enjoy all the exciting activities, from activities to provide detailed information about dogs of all breeds include a dog clinic, dog training courses and dog shows. And, of course, there will also be all kinds of products and services from leading manufacturers for sale at special prices.”
