During 15 - 16 Dec, the rather strong high-pressure system covers upper Thailand cause cool to cold with morning fog in the upper country. The moderate northeast monsoon prevails over the Gulf and the South cause thundershowers with isolated very heavy rains in the lower South. The wind and wave over the Gulf and the Andaman Sea are stronger. The wind and wave are about 2 meters in the upper Gulf, above 2 meters in thundershowers and 2 - 3 meters in the lower Gulf, above 3 meters in thundershowers. From 17 - 21 Dec, another strong high-pressure system from China will extend to upper Thailand causes cool to cold weather with strong wind in upper country. A decrease in temperature by 6 - 8 C is likely in the North and the Northeast while 3 - 5 C decrease in temperature is possible in the Central including Bangkok Metropolitan Region and the East regions. Northeast monsoon prevailing over the Gulf and the South will strengthen with isolated heavy to very heavy rains in the South. The wind and wave 2 - 4 meters are expected in the Gulf and above 4 meters in thundershowers. Meanwhile 2 - 3 meters offshore are likely in the Andaman Sea.
Caution
People in the upper country should take precaution to health condition due to decreasing in temperature and proceed with caution from the strong wind. During 17 - 19 Dec 2022, people in the lower south should beware of severe condition that may cause flash flood and overflows, especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands. All ships in the Gulf and Andaman sea should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers. Small boats in the Gulf should keep ashore until 20 Dec.
