Weather Outlook From 5 - 11 Jan 2023
During 6 - 8 Jan 2023, the modereted high-pressure system from China has extend to upper Thailand and South China Sea causes cool to cold weather with strong wind in upper country with a decrease in temperature by 1 - 3 degree celsius. The low pressure cell which covers Borneo Island will move into the Gulf of Tonkin while the northeast monsoon prevailing over the Gulf and the South will strengthen. Isolated rains is likely in Northeastern and Eastern with more rain and isolated heavy to very heavy rain in the South. The the rather strong wind force the waves up to 2 - 4 meters high in the Gulf and above 4 meters high in thundershowers area. During 9 - 11 Jan 2023, the high-pressure system which covers upper Thailand is weakening with increasing temperature but remains cool to cold weather in the upper country with fog and light rains. The wind and waves over the Gulf will also weaken.
Caution
People in the upper country should keep healthy due to variable weathers. Farmer should prepare for crop damage. During 5 - 8 Jan, People in the south should beware of severe condition that may cause flash flood and overflows, especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands. All ships in the Gulf should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers. Small boasts should keep ashore. Residents along the coast beware of inshore surges.
