Bangkok--21 Jun--Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit Top Thai music artist Room 39 was the star attraction at the spectacular La Nuit party at L'Appart, the rooftop restaurant and bar at the Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit hotel. La Nuit, the hotel's popular annual social event, also marked the end of an era for the stylish rooftop venue L'Appart. Major investment has now begun to transform the space into venue that is expected to become one of Bangkok's hottest eating and drinking establishments when it re-opens later this year. The exclusive invitation-only La Nuit party took place in the dramatic setting of an abandoned warehouse with impactful decor featuring dark and black tones with white highlights. Hotel General Manager Oliver Schnatz explained, "This year La Nuit was more than just an annual party. It was also a celebration of the amazing success enjoyed by L'Appart over the past six years. Later this year we will be reopening the space with an exciting new concept whilst retaining the quality and excellence of service enjoyed by our patrons since 2012." With a dress code of 'glam white', guests arriving at the entrance of the Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit hotel were invited to walk across a black and white carpet leading to a designated lift decorated in the La Nuit colour theme. "The party venue featured tones of white and grey to contrast with the dark colours. With white LEDs showcasing the venue, the bare walls and exposed utilities created the desired atmosphere of a construction zone within an abandoned warehouse," added Oliver Schnatz. Chef Nicolas Basset prepared a selection of hot and cold dishes that included live David Herve oysters; steak tartare minute; house-cured king salmon blinis; Savoie ham & saucisson and a selection of artisanal cheeses. The pass-around items were smoked octopus with black garlic, and aioli wild mushroom risotto made with Champagne and Parmesan. The ice bar featured fresh shellfish and seafood. Celebration signature cocktails were mixed by the winners of the 2018 Thailand World Class Bartenders Competition. Guests danced into the early hours on the innovative dance floor where the lights were driven by the live music and by the dance steps. The DJ booth, one of the main focal points, also used the movement of white light for maximum immersion into the overall concept. In addition to the novel sounds presented by Room 39 the guests were also treated to eclectic playlists from house DJ Queen P and a special set from DJ Ono of Bangkok Invaders. The main bar followed the minimalist theme with front and back white illumination. Projectors used the blank canvas walls to illustrate the storyboard running throughout the evening. Dancers and models were highlighted with the use of UV paint and a make-up artist was available to apply subtle, creative touches to guests on request. "It was a memorable La Nuit and a stunning celebration of the success enjoyed by L'Appart over the past six years. We look forward to sharing more details about the new concept now being implemented at this unique rooftop venue," said Oliver Schnatz.
