The sojourn of the Vienna Boys Choir ( "Wiener Saengerknaben") in Bangkok from 9th to 10th January 2019 is set to be part of the kickoff event for the celebration of 150 years of Friendship between Thailand and Austria. As strong partners in the fields of economic cooperation, commerce, culture, education, science and technology, both countries are set to commemorate and cement their century-and-a- half bilateral relations through a series of cultural and social events and activities. These celebrations will open up great opportunities for members of both countries to reaffirm their friendship and to create long-lasting memories. "Next year we shall celebrate the 150 Year Anniversary of our bilateral relations. There will be excellent opportunities to present and promote the depth and richness of our relations through a great variety of important cultural and social events both in Bangkok and Vienna," says Her Excellency Dr Eva Hager, Ambassador of Austria to Thailand. The Vienna Boys Choir will make the first stop of its Asia tour in Bangkok, Thailand, from 9th to 10th January 2019. The See, Sing, Study and Socialise with the Vienna Boys Choir event (SVBC) originates from ChorusArt Pte Ltd., an edutainment company from Singapore. ChorusArt has partnered with Siam Ganesha Company Limited for the Bangkok segment of SVBC 2019 with the aim of bringing people and communities together through choral music and singing. Both organisations hope that such collaborations will bring the international community of choral music lovers together and establish friendships and international understanding across borders. "Our theatre is very honoured to be a part of the concert and event, as it also celebrates 150 years of Thai- Austrian relations. We are very excited to welcome the boys for their first show in 7 years in Thailand. I personally cannot wait to see the talented boys perform live on stage, and hope everyone will have a chance to come and enjoy the show," says Chayanun Tepwaninkorn, Managing Director of Siam Pic-Ganesha Theatre. "I'm very honoured to bring the SVBC event to the Thai community. Choral music has the power to transcend race, language and religion. When people sing or make music together, they become friends. I have had the opportunity through organising this event to meet many prominent figures in the Classical and Choral music scene. I'm immensely grateful for this collaboration. Classical music is also very much in need of preservation and such involvement with local communities will allow the music to be more accessible and real," says Ms Iris Koh, Director of ChorusArt Pte Ltd., the concert organiser of SVBC events in Bangkok and Singapore. Through SVBC 2019, participants will be able to 'See, Sing and Socialise' with the choir. Young hopefuls might also get the chance on 9th January from 4.00 to 5.00PM at the Swissotel Bangkok Ratchada to audition for the prestigious choir, which was added to UNESCO's Intangible Culture Heritage List in 2017.
