ตามที่ได้เกิดเหตุแผ่นดินไหวทางตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ของเมืองเปรูจา ที่ตั้งอยู่ทางตอนกลางของประเทศอิตาลี เมื่อวันที่ ๒๔ สิงหาคม ๒๕๕๙ ส่งผลให้มีผู้เสียชีวิตและก่อให้เกิดความเสียหายต่อทรัพย์สินของประชาชนอิตาลี นั้น
พลเอก ประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา นายกรัฐมนตรี และนายดอน ปรมัตถ์วินัย รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ได้มีสารแสดงความเสียใจถึงนาย Matteo Renzi นายกรัฐมนตรีอิตาลี และนาย Paolo Gentiloniรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศอิตาลี ดังนี้

I have learnt with sorrow of the devastating earthquake in the central area of Italy which caused many casualties and serious damage to properties.
On behalf of the Royal Thai Government and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand, I wish to extend my sincere condolences to Excellency and, through you, to all those who have been affected by this natural disaster. I do hope that the affected area will recover quickly and fully from this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Italy.

I am deeply saddened by the tragic losses of lives and destruction caused by the devastating earthquake in central Italy.
I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to you, and through you, to bereaved families of the victims of this natural disaster and to the people of Italy. I do hope that the people of Italy will soon be able to overcome this tragedy and I wish you every success in your rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
