ตามที่เมื่อวันที่ ๑๙ ธันวาคม ๒๕๕๙ ได้เกิดเหตุการณ์คนร้ายขับรถบรรทุกวิ่งพุ่งชนตลาดคริสต์มาสที่จตุรัส Breitscheidplatz ใกล้โบสถ์ Kaiser Wilhelm Gedaechtniskirche ในย่านการค้าใจกลางกรุงเบอร์ลิน ทำให้มีผู้เสียชีวิต ๑๒ คน และบาดเจ็บกว่า ๕๐ คน นั้น
พลเอก ประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา นายกรัฐมนตรี ได้มีสารแสดงความเสียใจถึงนายกรัฐมนตรีสหพันธรัฐเยอรมันและนายดอน ปรมัตถ์วินัย รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ได้มีสารแสดงความเสียใจถึงรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศสหพันธรัฐเยอรมัน ดังนี้

The people of the Kingdom of Thailand and I are deeply grieved to learn of the terrible incident at the Christmas market in western Berlin on 19 December 2016 which resulted in the loss of 12 innocent lives and left many more injured. It is such a tragedy for the country especially during the festive time of the year.
On this sorrowful moment, on behalf of the Royal Thai Government and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand, I wish to extend my heartfelt and profound condolences and sympathies to you, and through you, to the bereaved families of the victims and to the Federal Republic of Germany of this tragic incident. Thailand, as a close friend of Germany, shares a feeling with the German government and people for such grievous loss and joins hands with the international community to fight against all form of violence.

I was deeply saddened and shocked to learn of the tragic incident at the Christmas market in western Berlin on 19 December 2016 which caused the deaths of innocent people and many injuries.
In this moment of anguish, I wish to extend my sincere condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims and to the Federal Republic of Germany for this terrible loss. My thoughts and prayer are with the German people during this difficult period. Thailand, as a close friend of Germany, once again reiterates its firm commitment to cooperating with the international community to fight against violence in all its forms.
