ตามที่เมื่อวันที่ ๑๙ ธันวาคม ๒๕๕๙ นาย Andrey Karlov เอกอัครราชทูตสหพันธรัฐรัสเซียประจำสาธารณรัฐตุรกี ถูกคนร้ายยิงในระหว่างการกล่าวสุนทรพจน์ในพิธีเปิดนิทรรศการภาพถ่าย “Russia as Seen by the Turks” ที่ศูนย์แสดงศิลปะ Cagdas Sanatlar Merkezi กรุงอังการา และเสียชีวิตในเวลาต่อมา นั้น
พลเอก ประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา นายกรัฐมนตรี ได้มีสารแสดงความเสียใจถึงนายกรัฐมนตรีสหพันธรัฐรัสเซีย และนายดอน ปรมัตถ์วินัย รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ได้มีสารแสดงความเสียใจถึงรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศสหพันธรัฐรัสเซีย ดังนี้

I was deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the assassination of H.E. Mr. Andrei Karlov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Turkey, while on his professional duty in Ankara on 19 December 2016.
Thailand joins the international community in condemning this heinous act of violence. We would like to reiterate our firm support to the Russian Government in the fight against international terrorism.
On behalf of the Royal Thai Government and the people of Thailand, I wish to express my deepest condolences to Your Excellency, and through you, to the family of Ambassador Karlov for this great loss.

The assassination of Ambassador Andrei Karlov while performing his diplomatic duties on 19 December 2016 marks a tragic day in the history of world diplomacy when the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations was severely breached by this heinous act of terrorism.
At this time of bereavement, may I extend to Your Excellency and, through you, to the family of Ambassador Karlov my sincere condolences and profound sympathy for this grave loss. Thailand, as a close friend of Russia, will continue to support Russia’s and the international community’s efforts in the fight against international terrorism to achievepeace and security worldwide.
