The father of Shota and Sayaka is dying of cancer. Shota worries about his father and remembers the times when his father held him in his arms and comforted him. His father receives an unexpected visit from Shiho, his former student. He wants his son to become her friend as she has no parents. He dies soon, and Shota and Shiho indeed become close.

Hiroshi IGARASHI is a very popular comedian. His wife left him with a ten year old son. Hiroshi leaves his son to Zempei, his manager because of his tight schedule. One day, he is shocked to be told by a doctor that his son is very sick and he has a few months left to live. Since that day on, Hiroshi reduces his work volume in order to stay with his son as long as possible.

But when 9/11 threatens his life on the New York City streets and a local filmmaker brings him to her home, the two embark on a journey to confront Jimmy's painful past. An intimate exploration of the lingering wounds of war and the healing powers of friendship and art, this documentary won the Audience Award at its premiere in the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival and the Best Picture Award of Japanese Eyes in the 2007 Tokyo International Film Festival.

The film focuses on the relationship between a father and his two sons. The elder son went to college and got a good job, while the younger son, Tetsuo, stopped his study at high school and began low-paying manual labor. Tetsuo falls in love with Seiko, who is deaf and mute. On introducing her to his father and elder brother, he announces that they plan to marry. Tetsuo worries that his father will be upset,but instead he accepts and supports his proposal.

The story of a father and his only daughter who is approaching the age at which most Japanese girls are supposed to marry. The father finds himself in the dilemma of every father, tom between the desire to see his daughter happily married and wanting to keep her himself. In the end, he makes his choice and then sits in the long autumn afternoon drinking with his friends.
