พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ชินวัตร นายกรัฐมนตรี ได้ส่งสารแสดงความเสียใจไปยังประธานาธิบดีฟิลิปปินส์ กรณีฟิลิปปินส์ประสบภัยพิบัติจากเหตุการณ์แผ่นดินถล่มที่เกาะ Leyte ของฟิลิปปินส์ ดังนี้
Madam President,
I have learned with deep sadness of the devastating landslide on the Leyte Island, which reportedly buried an entire village, resulting in the loss of over a thousand lives and many more people still unaccounted for.
May I take this opportunity to convey, on behalf of the people and the Government of Thailand, our heartfelt condolences and sympathy, through Your Excellency, to the grief-stricken families who lost their loved ones and to those injured from this tragic natural disaster. I have instructed our Ambassador in Manila to render necessary support to the ongoing relief operation by the Philippine authorities.
Accept, Excellency, the renewed assurances of my highest consideration.
