KASIKORNBANK is extending the success of its innovative limited edition debit cards with the Hello Kitty card, delighting fans of the famous cartoon and offering a cartload of benefits. KBank hopes to issue 300,000 new cards under the Hello Kitty design.
Limited edition Paul Frank and Angry Birds debit cards have been successful, attracting 500,000 applicants, according to Mr. Silawat Santivisat, KBank First Senior Vice President, and KBank is widening its leadership in “lifestyle” debit cards with the newly designed Hello Kitty collection. Hello Kitty is one of the world’s most popular cartoon characters, attracting fans for over 40 years among girls and women of all ages.
Two varieties of card are available: K-My Hello Kitty and K-Max Hello Kitty. The K-Max Hello Kitty card includes accident insurance with up to 200,000 Baht in total coverage, at 5,000 Baht hospital coverage per incident. With a single application, customers get a debit card, savings passbook and special purpose zip-lock bag with Hello Kitty designs. Hello Kitty cardholders will also enjoy 10-percent discounts when purchasing Sanrio products at all Central Plaza and Zen stores, Major Cineplex Group shows, any movie, any show time for 99 Baht (normally 140), and Fondue For Two and Topless Five ice-cream at Swenson’s for 99 Baht (normally 175). For every 5,000 Baht spent Shopping Online with Hello Kitty, 99 Baht will be credited to cardholder’s account, and every 25 Baht spent with Hello Kitty will earn a reward point towards gift redemptions. The Bank has set a target of issuing at least 300,000 Hello Kitty debit cards this year.
Fans may apply for their own lovable Hello Kitty debit cards at any KBank branch, or may apply while enjoying the Hello Kitty debit card launch, June 22-24 at Central Ladprao, first floor, Zone D, in front of the UNIQLO shop. Hello Kitty debit cards will be issued during the launch along with activities, games and drawings for a Sumsung Galaxy Y Hello Kitty Limited Edition mobile phone.
According to Mr. Silawat the debit card business in the first half of 2012 continued to grow, with about 25 million cards in use, and about 50 billion Baht in expenditures in 2011. KBank alone logged 20 billion Baht or 44 percent of total expenditures, making it the number one player in the market. Recently, KBank has introduced a number of innovations in its effort to make K-debit cards number one also in customers’ hearts. The first such cards were the K-My Debit and K-Max Debit cards. K-My Debit allowed cardholders to design their own card faces, meeting the desires of both teens and workers. K-Max Debit includes insurance coverage giving customers confidence at every step. These two cards have been well received, with over half the Bank’s customers choosing one of these over ordinary cards. Building on its successes and maintaining its leadership, KBank continues to introduce new debit card styles for our customers.
