Bangkok--22 Jun--124 Communications Amata B.Grimm Power, a subsidiary of B.Grimm Group, is one of the first and biggest SPPs or Small Power Producers in Thailand. The company has planned to establish 16 power plants in 6 industrial estates to supply electricity to EGAT and to over 800 industrial customers Amata B.Grimm Power, a Small Power Producer, has announced a plan to expand its power plants to 16, from the existing 3 plants, of which two of them are located in Amata Nakorn, Chonburi and another is located in Amata City Bien Hoa, Vietnam. Currently, Amata B.Grimm Power has generated a combined total power generating capacity of 363 MW. It supplies electricity to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and electricity and steam to more than 200 industrial customers. Preeyanart Soontornwata, President of Amata B.Grimm Power said “ As Thai economy has been growing very quickly, the need for electricity, especially in the industrial sector has soared up. In 2012, Thailand’s economy has rapidly expanded while electricity usage has also risen continuously. In the same year, the peak electricity demand reached 26,355 MW, indicating an increase of 7.27 percent from the year 2011, in which the level stood at 24,568 MW. It is also expected that in 2013, the peak demand will be as high as 27,433 MW, which indicates an increase of 4.13 percent from the year 2012. For this reason, Amata B.Grimm Power has thus planned to expand more power plants in response to the increasing power demand. At present, 3 power plants are under construction while 10 more plants are in the pipeline. Within 2019, the company will have 16 power plants in total. The combined total power generating capacity will approach 2,000 MW, which will enable us to supply the electricity to over 800 industrial users besides EGAT. ” “ Electricity demand has continued to increase in Thailand, particularly in real sector, which requires substantial electrical power to manufacture exported products in various industries such as automobile, IT, transportation and etc., which are the key driver of the nation’s economy. ” Regarding the electricity generating process, Amata B.Grimm Power has been using Co-generation Combined Cycle system which has efficient use of natural gas fuel and high production efficiency. Since industry is such a heavy user of energy, and particularly electricity, providing increased efficiency can save a great deal money which helpfully reduce amount of natural gas imported by country. In addition, the stream produced from this process can be harnessed to fulfill other industrial applications.
