Live a little outdoors

FALSTER
‘Wood’ without the work
Big backyards or small balconies, the sturdy FALSTER series fits different needs and sizes of outdoor living — all with no maintenance. The majority of new pieces are stackable, practical space savers like a chair, a square 63.63 cm table and a stool. Plus, there’s a new sunbed with an adjust?able back so you can recline and relax. Made of lightweight artificial wood, FALSTER is easy to move, too, whether you’re done for the day or the season. Even the sunbed is easy to move, thanks to its wheels.
Made of polystyrene plastic, the FALSTER series has the natural feeling and looks like solid wood but requires no maintenance. All the pieces can be stored inside or outside since the artificial wood withstands rain, low and high temperatures. The aluminum frames are rustproof, too. And just like wood, FALSTER can be sanded down if it gets a light scratch or two on the slats.
ROXO
Blooming with color
Last year’s seasonal blue and green ROX? colors reflected the sky and the grass. This year, pink and yellow are in bloom. Already introduced white pieces are back again with an expanded selection, complemented by a new dark grey that’s almost black. Chairs, a table, a bench, coffee tables and stools — there’s plenty of variety in the ROX? series. Never seen before are roomy, armed deck chairs in pink, grey and white, as well as a new white bench.
Made of steel and coated in a plastic powder, all ROX? pieces are durable with no maintenance. They wipe clean with a damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Plus, everything but the bench is stackable.
HOGSTEN
An invitation to relax
“With HOGSTEN easy chair, I was inspired by the high, hugging back of a wing chair and low beach chairs. Lots of sketches and days in the workshop led to a design that satisfied me. Relaxing in the sun that’s what I hope people will think of when they see this inviting furniture” —Designer Nike Karlsson.
The HOGSTEN series-chair, easy chair and footstool invite you to relax, especially knowing that everything is no maintenance and space saving.
Made from hand woven, durable plastic rattan,
HOGSTEN has the same expression as natural rattan without any necessary maintenance. Plastic rattan cleans easily using a soft, damp cloth with mild soap. It also withstands rain, low and high temperatures. For space saving storage, simply turn and slide the footstool underneath the easy chair. You may even enjoy relaxing in H?GSTEN so much that it finds spot inside your home too.
AMMERO
Bring lounging to new heights
Now joining the AMMERO series are a bar stool, a bar table and a chair with pad. These pieces expand the existing low seating solutions and gazebo, offering greater choice in furnishing an outdoor living area. Whether spread out on a modular sofa or taking a seat at the bar, AMMER? provides options.
Everything in the AMMERO series is no maintenance and easy to care for.
A mild detergent and water are all you need to keep the furniture looking fresh and new. Made of hand-woven plastic rattan, the chair is stackable with a reversible, removable and washable pad. The bar stool is made of flex?ible, lightweight and durable mesh. A sturdy steel frame and frost-resistant tempered glass top give the bar table durabil?ity that withstands temperatures below freezing.
APPLARO
Custom and clever in solid wood acacia
New to the APPLARO series this year are two new main func?tions: customizable low seating sections and clever storage and small space solutions. With a new corner section, one seat section and table/stool, any number of modular sofa solutions are possible. In addition to a foldable stool, a new storage bench, wall panel and shelf maximize space to cre?ate an area for you to store and organize your garden tools, plant pots, toys, whatever! Also, all ?PPLAR? furniture (even preexisting products) now comes with a dark brown finish.
Named after an island in Stockholm’s archipelago that’s a nature reserve area, it’s a natural fit that we take such care in the solid wood of APPLARO outdoor living series. A durable hardwood, acacia is the most common species in our outdoor range. We source it mainly from plantations in Vietnam and Malaysia, where we work to improve forestry and increase the amount of wood that is independently verified as coming from responsibly managed sources. Like all wood in IKEA products, acacia follows our requirements on harvesting and legality. (See the following page for the requirements list.) IKEA contributes this way to ensure that wood is also available in the future, so we can all enjoy the outdoors for years to come.
All APPLARO furniture is pretreated with an extra thick layer of glazing paint to increase durability and prolong the time before reglazing is required. Reglazing helps acacia retain its good condition and extend its lifetime. Frequency and amount of reglazing depends on location as well as amounts of sun, rain and overall usage.
At IKEA, we love wood. It’s strong, sturdy, versatile and beautiful. Moreover, we love nature and being outdoors. That’s why we care about where our wood comes from and have the following minimum requirements for all wood in IKEA products:
- Not come from illegally harvested forests
- Not come from forestry operations engaged in forest-related social conflicts
- Not harvested from uncertified Intact Natural Forests (INF) or High Conservation Value Forests (HCVF)
- Not harvested from natural forests in the tropical or subtropical regions being converted to plantations or non-forest use
- Not come from officially recognized and geographically identified com?mercial Genetically Modified (GM) tree plantations
SUNDERO
A designer’s deck inspires a series
IKEA designer Mikael Warnhammar had just finished build?ing a sundeck in his home’s garden when he found himself standing there with a piece of wood left over, and nowhere to sit. Rather than fetching a chair he already had somewhere, Mikael decided to build one. (He isn’t the kind of person to sit around doing nothing.)
Designing armchairs is something Mikael has done many times, but he usually starts by drawing, and then mak?ing prototypes. Because this armchair was for himself, he skipped the drawing stage and started to saw. Wide planks became wooden slats, which he put together like a fan in the back. Generous armrests were needed for arms, of course, and perhaps a cup of coffee. He cut and hammered for a few days until he arrived at a design that suited both him and his sundeck per?fectly. He didn’t stop with one chair either, making two chairs and a small table.
When Mikael was asked to be part of a workshop at IKEA to find new outdoor furniture ideas, he thought: ‘that chair I made at home — it would suit IKEA too.’ So instead of bringing a draw?ing to work, he brought a product developer from IKEA home to see his armchair.
Needless to say, the chair was a natural fit at IKEA. SUNDER? looks almost exactly the same as Mikael’s original. Some changes are always necessary, to be able to pack down the pieces in a flat pack for efficient transport and to make it easy to assemble at home. But otherwise, it’s the same. It’s made in pine, just like Mikael’s original, and stained grey to emulate the weather-beaten piece of wood from the sundeck.
ENHOLMEN
Modern choices for the outdoors
The completely new ENHOLMEN series offers a light grey color and distinct weave, adding an airy, modern touch to the outdoors. With individual pieces like a one-seat section, corner section and table/stool, there are plenty of choices for creating a custom outdoor arrangement. An adjustable sunbed, chair with armrests and 160?85 cm table complete the series, providing a range of modern outdoor living options. Turn your outdoor space into your ideal space, whether it’s for eating, relaxing or even movie watch?ing.
Everything in the ENHOLMEN series is no mainte?nance and easy to care for. To keep the furniture looking fresh and new, only a mild detergent and water are needed. Made of hand-woven plastic rattan, all ENHOLMEN seating has the same expression as natural rattan, but is better suited to outdoor use. All the pieces have rustproof aluminum frames that are durable and lightweight, too.
SOLVINDEN
Powered by nature
Harnessing the power of the sun (and so?metimes the wind, too), the SOLVINDEN series converts nature’s energy into power for warm, white LED lighting. Fully charged batteries provide 4 to 12 hours of light, which is enough for any outdoor celebration to last well into the night! Plus, their cordless nature puts light wherever you want.
