Bangkok--25 Mar--Grayling (Thailand)
A new Electrolux refrigeration production plant in Rayong will be an important link in the company’s global manufacturing operations and its continued commitment to Thailand.
Commenting at the stone-laying ceremony for the new refrigerator manufacturing plant at its Rayong site, Ms Gunilla Nordstrom, President and CEO of Electrolux Major Appliances Asia Pacific said: “Our manufacturing facilities in Thailand are an important link in our global manufacturing operations.
“We have been a consistent investor in our production facilities in Thailand. Since opening our first plant for washing machines and dryers in 2003, we have now added significant production lines for refrigerators. Products from these plants are generally destined for regional markets throughout Asia Pacific,” said Ms Nordstrom.
“We reviewed a number of possible sites for a new refrigerator production line but Thailand was a natural choice for us, given our long involvement here.”
The plant, which is currently under construction, is expected to be fully operational in the first quarter of next year. When completed, the new plant will also lift employment opportunities in the country.
Ms Nordstrom said the new refrigeration plant will deliver a range of premium and innovative refrigerators to meet the needs and requirements of food storage for consumers in Asia Pacific.
General Manager for Electrolux Thailand Mr Sutti Manokitjarunman said the decision to build the plant was good news for Thailand.
“The addition of a refrigeration production plant to our facility at Rayong demonstrates our commitment to the people of Thailand and to the economy,” said Mr Manokitjarunman.
“Not only will we be offering more employment for Thai people, the export of the refrigerators to other markets in South East Asia and Asia Pacific will assist in generating much needed export revenue for the country.”
