Thai Deputy Prime Minister meets AIT delegation

Bangkok--27 Mar--AIT Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, H.E. Mr. Yongyuth Wichaidit, met a delegation from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and discussed the issue of release of flood emergency fund for campus repairs and rebuilding. The Deputy Prime Minister, who is also Minister of Interior, remarked that the Thai Government will provide all possible help to AIT in its rebuilding and reconstruction efforts. The Deputy Prime Minister met the AIT President Prof. Said Irandoust on 15 March 2012. This meeting followed an earlier meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister held on 9 December 2011, and the consequent approval of the release of flood emergency funds to AIT by the Royal Thai Government. AIT was devastated by the flood and half of its campus facilities were severely affected by the floodwaters, following which the AIT President had met the Deputy Prime Minister seeking help. Prof. Irandoust thanked H.E. Mr. Yongyuth for his encouragement and support to AIT. Prof. Irandoust was accompanied by Mr. Mir Nusrat Alikhan, Advisor to AIT, who had arranged the meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister. The AIT delegation also included Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, Director Fundraising. Also present in the meeting were the former Deputy Minister of the Interior, Majoar General Mr. Sornchai Montriwat and Pol. Gen. Dato Prung Boonpadung. Photo caption: From left to right: Pol. Gen.
