SCB Securities has teamed up with parent Siam Commercial Bank to add an “ Open an Online Trading Account” service on the “Easy Stock” menu at the SCB Easy Net website, enabling new investors to open a securities trading account conveniently and effortlessly. The move is aimed at broadening the customer base and providing an alternative investment choice to those who want to expand their investment portfolio into stocks.
SCBS Chief Executive Officer M.L. Thongmakut Thongyai noted that last year SCBS joined with SCB to open the “Easy Stock” menu to provide stock trading service through SCB Easy Net with Single Sign-on log-in, followed by real-time collateral deposit transfer service. More recently the company introduced an “Open an Online Trading Account” service on the “Easy Stock” menu to facilitate investment by new investors keen on including stocks in their financial portfolios. With the new service, investors are able to open prepaid and cash balance accounts for securities trading to complete the online investment service through Internet Banking.
Currently, online investment has gained in popularity. In 2011, the online trading account share grabbed by SCB Securities increased 36% from that of 2010. It is expected that this share will increase at a faster pace to 50% by the end of 2012, with Internet Banking playing a crucial channel in expanding the online investor base.
SCB Securities is also launching an “Easy Stock Easy Start — Open Trading Account, Win iPad,” promotional campaign to welcome and boost recognition of the new service. Under the campaign, new clients who receives approval for opening a securities account for online trading on the “Easy Stock” menu through SCB Easy Net will receive one entry for a chance to win one of three “The new iPad” prizes offered every quarter, totaling 9 units. The offer is available from now until December, with the name of winners to be announced through www.scbsonline.come and www.scbeasy.com.
