The Camp is committed to building upon our company's strong history of supporting the community and the environment.
Cloaked in the lush bamboo jungles of Northern Thailand, the away-from-it-all jungle sanctuary of Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle offers uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountains and rivers. Envisioned and conceived by the acclaimed landscape designer and architect Bill Bensley, the Camp's rugged, off-the-grid luxury is palpable from the moment one arrives in the long-tail boat, skimming across the Ruak River. "Located at the intersection of Northern Thailand, Myanmar and Laos, the Camp was Bill's first foray into tented camps, as well as conservation and protection," shares Paweena Waraha, Camp Manager. "Over time, it has remained a special project to the team as it was named best in the world several years in a row."
Immerse Yourself in Nature: No Walls, More Connection
The Camp has been built to offer a true wilderness experience, and feature no walls, no television in-tent, and no air-conditioning in public areas - giving guests an opportunity to truly connect with themselves and the destination. Each of the Camp's 15 tents and 1 Explorer's Lodge preserve the landscape, offering solace and sophistication in a uniquely Four Seasons way. Raised walkways protect the forest floor, and materials such as bamboo and reclaimed wood reduce the environmental footprint. "This low impact high yield camp tells the story of the Northern Thai tribes," illustrates Paweena - the exotic names such as Hill-tribe, Burmese, and Opium that are suggestive of the destination. What's more, the artefacts in these tents match the theme, providing an immersive experience that dives into the culture and tradition of the region. Adding a sustainable touch to the in-tent amenities, loose-leaf teas and coffee sourced from local plantations are used to reduce packaging waste and support local economic development. "Our private bar offerings are bottled in glass to reduce plastic and aluminum use," she explains.
Jungle Adventure Meets Tented Luxury Along the Ruak River
Set along a the Ruak River, each tent offers extensive views over this picturesque riverine landscape and dense bamboo jungle cover. Guests may choose between the luxurious Bamboo Tent or the premium Mekong Tent. "The five Golden Triangle tents feature private outdoor tubs, while the Bamboo and Mekong tents are fitted with outdoor lounge and rain shower so that guests may enjoy the extensive veranda space," she shares. For larger families or friends travelling together, the Camp also features a stunning two-bedroom Explorer's Lodge with spacious bedrooms and an expansive deck. This safari-styled accommodation comes with a magnificent outdoor pool with gorgeous views into the surrounding jungle. Custom-made bathtubs and bespoke fittings make the Lodge an experience in itself. "Families with children (10 years or older) will find that the Camp is the perfect venue for spending quality time together, with enough adventure and frolic activities both onsite as well as into the surrounds," suggests Paweena.
Celebrate Local Culture with Authentic Design & Spa Rituals
With the thrills of this evocative natural setting providing the perfect canvas, Bill Bensley's eclectic eye for antiques and period travel accessories are what deliver a flourish and authenticity. Hardwood floors and traditional thatched roofs are offset by the exquisite handcrafted furniture and an old-fashioned, hand-hammered copper bathtub that stands as centrepiece. Vintage compasses and fishing implements serve as foils for the premium Thai textiles and carved teak furnishings that adorn the interiors. An open-air spa perched at the edge of the jungle with an outdoor bathtub offers rejuvenation with nature's healing, enhanced by birdsong and the murmur of the bamboo jungle. From traditional Thai massage to innovative rituals, the healing power of nature found in mountain botanicals and warming spices are harnessed here to offer maximum benefits.
"Guests who choose a Three Night Adventure Package can experience the very best of the Golden Triangle and what our Camp has to offer," shares Paweena. Ideal for couples, honeymooners and thrill-seeking families, the hillside tented accommodations offer the perfect blend of intimate encounters and adventure. "Connect deeply with nature, explore the Mekong with bespoke excursions and experience unscripted moments immersed in the local culture," she smiles.
