Supported by the Macau Government Tourist Office, The Human Bodies Exhibition provides an intimate and informative view into the human body at The Venetian? Macao-Resort-Hotel. Using an innovative preservation process, the exhibition allows visitors to see and celebrate the human body's inner beauty in ways never dreamed possible. Over 200 individual organs and full body specimens have been meticulously dissected, and will be respectfully displayed, offering an unprecedented and wholly unique look into the amazing human body.
What makes The Human Bodies Exhibition so compelling is the real dissected human bodies that have been treated to create “plastinates,” perfectly and permanently preserved specimens. After detailed dissection, the tissue specimens are dehydrated in an acetone bath, which will then be impregnated with a unique silicone polymer and sealed in a vacuum chamber. Under vacuum, the polymer turns into gas and is pushed into the tissues. And once hardened, the specimens will become permanent.
Information and illustrations will be provided in a variety of ways to ensure it is a valuable educational experience for people of all ages. The exhibition begins with a general overview of the human body, and visitors will then be led to explore the galleries one-by-one, each focusing on different parts of the body system, including skeletal/muscular (the supporting structure of a human body and the muscles that work with it); respiratory (how oxygen is delivered to every cell in the body); digestive (the system that turns food into nutrients); nerves (the command centre of the body); circulatory (the amazing 145,000-kilometre web of vessels that provides the body’s cells with blood); reproductive/urinary (the facilitation of new life and the movement of waste); and fetal life (the most basic stages of human body development).
