Oishi Group, King of Japanese food, is making an aggressive move to boost its growing snack products with 50 million Baht, expecting the deliver extraordinary experiences for consumers to vie for 300,000 Baht prizes in games and contests of “Giant Onori Cash Slider Machine to win 100,000 Baht in Cash.”
Mr. Paisarn “Sam” Aowsathaporn, Executive Vice President, Food Division, OISHI Group Plc., said, “OISHI has driven its business under the concept OISHI: King of Japanese Food with 100 million Baht budget for the development of a new business in the snack market, starting with “Onori by OISHI”, Japanese-styled fried seaweed snacks in both Japanese Original taste and Japanese Chili taste. We now capture 6 per cent market share of the flavored seaweed snack segment and 9 per cent of the fried seaweed snack segment.
“The snack market is rising with the flavored seaweed market enjoying the growth of 40 per cent. The value of the flavored seaweed market has been increased to around 2.6 billion Baht, comprising of 69 per cent fried seaweed snacks, 21 per cent baked seaweed snacks, 8 per cent roasted seaweed snacks, and 2 per cent tempura seaweed snacks. The continued growth of 40 per cent has assured us to add 50 million Baht to introduce two new flavors: Onori Super Pizza, an unique pizza taste, and Nabe Tom Yam. Both are in fun-filled, Manga-featured packages to cater to the different demand of consumers. We expect 150 million Baht in revenues by the end of 2012.
